The USJ Attack Incident in My Hero Academia: A Comprehensive Role Breakdown
Here's how it went down:
The Setup
Class 1-A report to the USJ, escorted by homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head, and pro-hero Thirteen. The USJ is a huge facility with disaster zones of all types: flooded, landslide, fire, and whatnot, where rescue practice is supposed to take place.
However, just before the training can be initiated, a tremendous dark portal opens in the middle of the facility. The leader of the League of Villains, Tomura Shigaraki, emerges from it. He is accompanied by his lieutenant Kurogiri and many other villains. The League of Villains intention is to kill All Might since they believe he will come to defend the students.
The Attack Begins
The villains don't wait. Kurogiri uses Warp Gate Quirk to disperse students into different zones of the USJ, making it hard to fight properly as a team. It makes one group of students after another face off the villains in different settings.
Aizawa vs. The Villains
Meanwhile, Aizawa remains to defend his students by repelling hundreds of villains with his ability to remove many Quirks at once. Overwhelmed but still struggling, Aizawa is cornered by Nomu, a genetically designed freak created to take care of All Might. The creature also blocks Aizawa's attacks and brutally overpowers him, leaving him severely injured. Even when he had already been savagely beaten, Aizawa keeps fighting back through his powerful will and does his best to fend for his students.
The Students' Battles
The students, as for now, are separated in their respective zones and have to face the respective villains.
Midoriya, Asui, Mineta in the Flood Zone
Izuku Midoriya, Tsuyu Asui, and Minoru Mineta were sent to the flood zone, who found themselves surrounded by aquatic villains. The trio fights together but gets outnumbered. Midoriya uses the newly acquired One For All to break the water, creating a huge whirlpool, and gets carried to safety by Asui. Meanwhile, Mineta uses his Pop Off Quirk to cover the ground with his sticky balls, that traps the villains. Despite being terrified himself, Mineta's effort helped them escape from the zone.
Bakugo and Kirishima Fighting
Katsuki Bakugo and Eijiro Kirishima were transported to another region, where several villains attacked them. Bakugo always fights aggressively: jumping into battle when he takes down multiple enemies, using his Explosion Quirk. Kirishima also appeared quite strong while repelling attackers because he used his Hardening Quirk, together with teamwork and raw strength.
Todoroki in the Landslide Zone
He is isolated but not nervous at all. With the use of the freezing side of his Half-Cold, Half-Hot Quirk, he freezes the whole area and locks in a huge number of villains in ice without breaking a sweat. One of the most powerful students who join in the attack is Todoroki because of the precision and control he uses.
Iida's Mission
Tenya Iida receives a critical mission while his students fight to survive. His friends encourage him to run away from the USJ and inform the faculty. Iida feels the urge to remain in the USJ and fight with his classmates; however, eventually he realizes that he has to deliver the warning to the heroes.
By using his Engine Quirk, Iida runs such a distance on the battlefield and leaves the bad guys so far behind him. The successful escape that Iida was able to do will eventually lead to reinforcement that would save his life in the battle.
Arrival of All Might
When things worsen, the villains prepared themselves to deliver the final blow where Aizawa was badly injured and the students growing desperate. Shigaraki teases them for their cowardice saying that he will kill them and wait for All Might. However, the plan of the villains went out when All Might appeared suddenly in the field.
The battle would change for the heroes when All Might appears. He confronts Nomu, a monstrous creature created particularly to counter his strength. In a spectacular fight, All Might battles Nomu with all his strength. Although Nomu had some regeneration abilities and shock absorption, All Might forced himself to go beyond his limits. And so, after many punches, he finally could defeat Nomu by sending him flying out of the USJ.
Shigaraki and Kurogiri realize that things are going wrong and attempt to escape. Just as that is happening, Pro Hero Thirteen and the U.A. staff block their way. The villains have to retreat.
Aftermath
The USJ attack leaves a deep scar in the brains of Class 1-A students who cannot even forget the first encounter of villains in real life. Many of them are not even initiated into the danger of becoming a pro hero as they were forced to learn from this experience. Many of them get injured and include Aizawa, who falls into critical condition, but All Might saves the day by timely intervention to make sure no one gets killed.
One of the most impressive developments here is the development of the League of Villains as a significant adversarial force in the series. It finally becomes clear how much of an obsession Shigaraki has had with killing All Might and spreading chaos, which would set the tone for the overall war between heroes and villains.
Conclusion
This incident of USJ Attack is the critical point that defines the storyline of My Hero Academia. It shows Student Courage, Overpowering Villains, and the experience of heroes such as All Might. It's also a harsh reminder that despite being called for pro heroism, every day is always full of danger.
